It is an engaging story that my son loved, and from which he, hopefully, absorbed some of the lessons about focus, persistence, and self motivation that I'd like him to know. It was never his goal to be the youngest to climb Everest, but he doesn't see any reason why his age should hold him back. He tried and failed to be the youngester person to climb Everest, and after reading it you might think his parents are crazy to let him attempt it. He doesnt expect his parents to do the work or hand him success. It inspires the average person to do the impossible.
